Bmartin Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 (edited) I have a steering wheel from a 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe and would like to put it in my 40 P9. The issue is that the 40 wheel extends over the column in the rear but the 48 does not, leaving about a 2" gap. Did the 48 have a trim piece for that? If not, has anyone seen any trim adapters specifically for this purpose? Also, if you have any other ideas on how to fill the gap in a visually appealing manner, I'd love to hear them. 40plyrod Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 I'll see if I can find a picture tonight but on mine I undid the clamp at the bottom of the column and slid the tube up slightly to tighten the gap. Quote
Bmartin Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 Thanks! That actually worked really well. Easy fix. Quote
40plyrod Posted June 9, 2016 Report Posted June 9, 2016 I like your door panel and seat, any pics. Quote
Bmartin Posted June 12, 2016 Author Report Posted June 12, 2016 Here are a couple from today. I really don't like the circa 1995 3D graphics, but its impossible to match the vinyl and its done. So it will stay until I redo the interior completely. The fabric has grown on me. Quote
DJ194950 Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 Seat and headliner material reminds me of grandmas couch! Quote
bobostski Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 The interior of My 48 2 door sedan is a little wild also. I was going to go back stock but thought I'd have some fun with it. It's sewn in the original pattern and then I added buttons. The headliner and door panels are a golden yellow velour velvet. The back of the front seat and bottom edge of the seats and door panels are a burnt orange color velvet. I did all the sewing myself. I call this a Stock Rod as the entire car is stock except for paint colors and interior fabrics. I detailed the engine compartment in red and yellow also. I think your interior is fun, Please don't put gray tweed in it. 1 Quote
Bmartin Posted June 14, 2016 Author Report Posted June 14, 2016 No worries, I go tweeded out in the ninety's. It'll most likely be all vinyl next time around. Although I may go with a leather that looks like vinyl for breathability on the seats. AZ+Vinyl=swamp a$$. 1 Quote
