JD luxury liner Posted July 11, 2015 Report Posted July 11, 2015 Well i had Evans electric convert my origanol generator to 12volts. I had asked them to supply the voltage regulator as well, however the man that helped me Otto Thorpe (RIP) passed away while the conversion was being done. I am now looking for a voltage regulator on my own. I have detemined that it is an "a" circuit. The auto is a 1941 Dodge D19 The generator says 35 amps. This is the origanol 6 volt nametag. Is the amperege going to be 1/2 of this or the same. Delco makes alot of regulators in all price ranges!!! Does anybody have a part # that is available without the large price tag? JD Quote

JD luxury liner Posted July 14, 2015 Author Report Posted July 14, 2015 Update on the voltage regulator. Evans electric is still active in Fresno CA. My generator is still a 35 amp , & I should use a regulator from a 1955 chevy. About $55 from local Napa. JD Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 (edited) 53/54 Chrysler Autolite Reg # VRX-6003A This regulator is more consistent with the rpm of the flattie over that of the Chevy V8 reg. check the specs..both all three (two chevy#'s for 55 and and the Chrylser are rated at 25 amp even though the one Chevy says 30...final adjustment is at 25 amps only per specs in the book. I would look toward 1959/60 Plymouth and the VRX-6301A as it is rated at the 35 amp but sad to say it did not specify if 6 or 8 application and rpm may be a question here also..I believe I would try to match my components to the very engine and RPM verse mismatch Edited July 14, 2015 by Plymouthy Adams Quote
