andrewj7 Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 the previous owner did a 12V conversion. But clearly not a full one. I was going to look at why the horn doesn't work. But it was simple! It's not wired up. The horn is an original 6V and the wiring all seems to have been removed. Would putting a resister inline work, or is there a way to modify the horn with a 12V part? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 most 6 v horns will work on 12..just do not lay down on the horn and hope for 5 minutes of continuous blowing...all things in moderation...you may want to tweak the adjuster for correct amperage draw......your call.. Quote
Mark Haymond Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 On my P15 Plymouth coupe I installed a 12 volt horn relay to drive the old 6 volt horns and they worked fine. I did learn that the horns would not toot when I used small 16 gauge wires during testing. Those horns draw lots of amps and need 10 or 12 gauge wires. AIRTEX WELLS Horn Relay IS5023 or CR613 Quote
