1950 Plymouth floor pan help needed

Hi everyone. Looking for a little technical help, and advice on a bad deal by what I thought was a reputable restoration resource for these cars.

Other than The Plymouth Doctor, who else offers floor pans for 1950 Plymouths? I am skeptical of the pans I see on eBay, and don't mind paying a higher price for s quality part.

Now to part II. I purchased front inner and outer rockers from Wayne the Plymouth Doctor a while back. Happy with the parts, I decided to order the rear inner and outer rocker extensions (the car is a Suburban). When they showed up, each extension was 6" too short, and there was no pinch weld on either to connect to the inner rocker. I took some pictures and contacted Wayne, who in turn was going to speak with his fabricator and find out what happened. Long story short, Wayne told me the fabricator must have fabricated coupe extensions on accident, and that he would be sure to send me the correct ones (with the pinch weld too). Well, it's been over 45 days since I paid for these parts, and I still don't have the correct length outer rocker extensions. Additionally, Wayne is no longer responding to phone calls or emails...and I am extremely frustrated, and disappointed I lost what I thought was a good resource for sheet metal for my project, not to mention paying for parts I can't use.

So, are there any other floor pans available elsewhere, or am I going to have to fabricate them?

There's a metal shaper in/around Dennison, MN on Route 56, who can probably make those for you.  Wayne can't send you parts that are not on the shelf and since he obviously doesn't make them himself, he has to wait for the fabricator to do so, ship them to him and then on to you.  The fabricator may have a backlog of orders and if he builds in the order he receives, correcting your order may not be at the top of the page.  I've waited longer than that for parts and continual phone calls and emails won't speed it up.   Other people with other brands of cars have waited for 2 years to get their parts.  Good fabricators have a backlog.

Other manufacturers are out there.  I can think of one I wouldn't use regardless of cost or availability.  Hopefully the quality of the pieces you need are higher than the parts I needed.

Be patient.  There's probably something else on the car you can be doing while waiting.

Thanks for the reply Dave

I have no problem waiting, but when he tells me I will have them on day X, and day X comes and goes...with no communication, or follow up to my communication...that's when it becomes a problem.  In addition to that, you would think that the fabricator would prioritize correcting the order that he/she screwed up, instead of dragging this out.  It really boils down to following up with your customer and being professional about it.

What MFR would you NOT use if I may ask?  Feel free to PM me if you don't want to air it here in the thread.

Follow up is BIG part of customer service, agreed.  Some are much better at it than others.

There is no reason to take money for parts that you have to wait on for someone else to fabricate so that you can ship them.  YOU then have zero control and in this case the customer gets screwed. Not acceptable.

If the Plymouth Doctor wants to be in the sheet metal business then he needs to invest in some inventory.

Everybody does business their own way.   We can agree on how we would prefer business to be conducted, how errors would be corrected, prioritized, but Wayne's running the business, not us.

Wrong.  He may be running the business, but the minute he takes somebodies money it changes the game. Wayfarer is right and I am a business owner myself and I would never take money from a customer unless I had stock or will be getting it quickly. If I do inconvenience that customer, its my responsibility to keep communication high on the list and throw in something to make sure they come back.  BS on excusing someone because its their business.

I guess I'm not expressing myself properly. I never said I agreed with the business policies or ethics of Plymouth Doctor, whatever they may be, and not saying they're good or bad, and I may not agree with the policies and business ethics of banks, insurance companies. utilities, etc. I said the OWNER of the company get to set them, not me, not you.

Since it's possible the business is no longer operating, it's up to the OP to find a solution, financial and parts.
