Going to a flat head v8 or 318 and using original drive train

Is it possible to use the original drive train and switch the flat head 6 out my 48 dodge sedan for more power but nothing to wild in the horsepower

Lots of threads and posts on getting more power out of the old Mopar flatheads. No need for a different engine. Lots of guys on the forum run dual carbs and dual exhausts and there are many  other things that can be done to provide more Mopar power.

If  your car has the fluid drive and you keep it more horsepower isn't going to do much.

I have had a 318Poly in my 1940 Dodge since 1973 so can offer some real world advice........the biggest problem is how far do you want to go re changing things as the fact that mopars used a handbrake on the driveshaft so by swapping the engine to a V8 you have to either use an mopar engine/trans that has the handbrake or swap the rear end for an axle that has the handbrake on the diff.......then of course there is the front brake suitability, steering clearances, etc, etc.........the easy solution would be to hop up the mopar 6 or swap in a later version, say late 50's or even a Chrysler/ De Soto 250 cube version as has been done a few times........anything is possible however it really depends on you skill level and desire to do it...........I was young and silly..........am now old but still silly and still have the car 40 odd yrs later so its up to you........lol.........heres a couple of pics of my 'ol brown turd..........regards, Andy Douglas
