bluefoxamazone Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 hello! I need some help with the identification of the carburetor on my '53 Cranbrook. Hopefully this is the original one for my car? I like to keep the car as original as possible. What exactly is the id number. (to look for an exact spare or a repair kit) I have found 6- 595 and L26 D6U1 I have included some pictures. Any help is greatly appreciated and rewarded with a cold Belgian Beer in my backyard besides the grill.... grtz, Franky Quote

jeffsunzeri Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 The D6U1 is original fitment to your 1953 Cranbrook. D6U1 is the critical number to identifying the appropriate rebuild kit. 1 Quote
Lloyd Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 D6U1 is a Ball & Ball Carter. The kits for these carbs were pretty much universal from the 40's to the 50's. 1 Quote
bluefoxamazone Posted May 14, 2015 Author Report Posted May 14, 2015 yes it is B&B from carter and the repair sets seem to be easy to find. This carb seems to be used for cars equiped with an overdrive (kick down switch) Quote
bluefoxamazone Posted May 16, 2015 Author Report Posted May 16, 2015 Does anybody has a D6U1 somewhere laying in a forgotten corner? Grtz Franky Quote
