MartinsB3B Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 Just wondering if anyone here has kept any of the service stickers from vehicles you have acquired. I find them interesting to know when the last time that that any service has been done. Knowing the last oil change, lubrication, and any other service that has been done. I kept them from the Bel Air I formerly owned from 1973, and from my B3B, 1971. I'm going to make a collage for my truck of the build pictures and the service tags. Just curious if anyone else finds these interesting.MartinsB3B Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 I have seen numerous service stickers on old cars over the last 40 years, but never did keep any. It is fun to see when the vehicle received it's last oil change and other service. And sometimes to look at the old license plate still in place. I was often surprised at the lower amount of miles on the odometers of some cars found in the junk yards in the 1970s. I guess it's because certain components of those cars were not so durable as our current cars......the engine began knocking and the car went to the salvage guy. Of course, nowadays, you can buy reproduction stickers of various kinds if you want to re-create the old look of things. Quote
Dave72dt Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Service stickers don't always mean the last date of service. It may only mean that's the last known time it was serviced by that particular service facility. Quote
MartinsB3B Posted March 8, 2015 Author Report Posted March 8, 2015 You do have a point. I've aleays found them interesting. Quote
Dave72dt Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Sure, they're a part of the car's history. Some of those would have spaces for more than one servicing so you could track somewhat how many miles the owner put on over a period of time, a repetitive service may have been an indicator of how affluent the owner was if he could afford hiring the service done on a regular basis and an indicator of how well the vehicle was cared for. Remember too that most of the gas stations were full service at that point in their life,so the extra quart of oil or topping off of fluids wouldn't necessarily have been included on a service sticker. 1950 Special Deluxe Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 My car had a couple of Esso service stickers. I was able to peel them off and include them in the car history. As the car has been in my wife's family since new it is part of the history. Quote
