Good thing the BIG RACE was not held in Southern California

Can the police do that??? I dont see how they can crush cars for street racing. And IF they have receipts for parts purchased,,,chase down the real criminals. I realize they are trying to 'protect' the public,,but thats what fines and jail time is for,,,NOT car crushing!!!

I would THINK these guys would wise up and take their street racing to the race track and get it over with,,,lots less dangerous and less chance of a crush job!!

Trouble with modern day street racers is, they don't have the common sense to go find a deserted road. They're doing this on crowded city streets and quite a few bystanders have been maimed or killed. Of course this is the generation of spoiled brats whose mommies and daddies found it easier to buy them expensive toys rather than spend time teaching them values or anything else. The only new development is, now they have drivers licenses and mommy and daddy bought them a car and gave them a big allowance for speed parts, to keep them out of their hair.

There, I feel better now...:D

PS, in Redondo Beach a few years ago the police started removing large booming car stereos on the spot if they exceeded the decibel limit. And they were not very careful about how they tore them out either. End of problem.

Well.......they were breaking the law and had to know what the possible penalty would be if caught. So, don't feel sorry for them.

As for the question, "Can they do that?" If it's a law, yes they can. Just look at all the houses and cars the government takes away each year from drug dealers. Around here, if you rent an apartment or house out and it's used for drug dealing, you can lose the house, even if you didn't know about it. Those houses and cars are usually sold at auction though.

Sounds like they are crushing the ones that have some questionable title/registration information or VIN's that have been messed with AND that were caught in a street race.

Yup, Rialto is out in San Bernardino County, Berdoo being the birthplace of the Angels. A tough area out that way, trying hard to clean up though. Hope I don't offend anyone here but the next town over, Fontana, we used to call Felony Flats.

Could be some chop shops operating out that way:rolleyes:

LOL Dennis. There's even a new tract called Fontana Highlands or whatever. Very upscale, they likely put the cars in the front yard up on designer cinderblocks. Last year we held a public hearing in Fontana. We placed hearing signs out near the sidewalk, these are constructed like the open house signs realtors use. During the hearing someone stole the signs.

There is one nice thing about criminals that would steal those signs. They are probably dumb enough to try and sell them back to city.

Just saw a report on the news last night about a robbery at a McDonalds. Guess two guys robbed one, then after they got in the car to leave, the one with the gun accidently shot his partner.:D :D :D Guess he'll live and at least he'll have a permanent address for awhile.:D :D Still looking for his partner, he got out of the car and fled on foot.

Guess I was talking of a 'short' 1 block sorta chickens race. Wasnt thinking of all out 80-100mph down a residential street with kids playing ball nearby,,or pedestrians in a business district,,,weaving in and out of traffic like a lunatic. Is this the guys that you see in movies burnin nitrous oxide for their rocket type racing?? It works GOOD in the movies, never people in the road!!

Now in a not too warmed over Flat head 6 like we know and love,,,we MAY be able to get to the speed limit,,maybe NOT!! A 1rst and 2nd gear and back down race to begin with. WITH a clear path, no people,no cars,no rubber marks,,, (no cops)(which is harder to guess than our old one cop town,,,everybody KNEW where he was!!)

Here abouts the cops CAN seize ill got gains and items the drug dealers bought with drug money. A rented to them house doesnt qualify tho,,cause they dont own it!! Might get it back in mighty sad shape tho,,,thats a 'given'.

Don, around here a landlord can lose the house too. Doesn't matter who owns the house.

Thats JUST not right.

The landlord wasnt a party to it,why penalize him??? Unless he profited from it too(and not just the rent price)

Cant be many rented houses out your way then. Where do all the people that NEED to rent live???

Tenants have a few too many rights,,,landlords have to go thru hell and high water just to get rid of a deadbeat around here!!

Don, around here there aren't many houses for rent. It's rare to find a nice house that you can rent. About 90% of the houses that are for rent around here are all in the poor, run down, crime ridden part of town. The reason the landlord can lose his house if it's used by the renter for selling/storing drugs, is because the landlord is responsible for checking out who is renting from him and what goes on, on his rental property. Lets face it. How does one really know for sure if the landlord knew or didn't know drugs were being sold from his property, if there is no paper trail. By having this law, there is no guessing. As far as the landlord evicting a tenant who is dealing in drugs, that's not a real problem. All he has to do is call the police and report the activity. If he does that the police will arrest the tenant (thereby evicting the tenant immediately) and then the landlord won't lose his property, because he reported the activity.

Most renters around here have to rent either an apartment or condo. I know in some cities there are a lot of houses for rent. Louisville, KY is that way. Here about 90 to 95% of the single family homes are owner occupied.
