Seaside Pete Posted November 8, 2014 Report Posted November 8, 2014 Hi Everyone. My 47 P15 came with no keys for the trunk and doors only the ignition key. I have bought new locks but can't workout how to remove the old trunk lock. Can anybody help? also any tips on fitting the new lock would be great. I have not looked at the door locks yet so any tips there would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance.. Pete Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 8, 2014 Report Posted November 8, 2014 this was just discussed on here...little banter in the thread but will give all you need... http://p15-d24.com/topic/37328-need-help-lost-keys-to-locked-p15-trunk/?hl=%2Btrunk+%2Block Quote
Seaside Pete Posted November 8, 2014 Author Report Posted November 8, 2014 Hi, thanks for the response. I have got the whole assembly out on the bench as although I did not have the keys the trunk was unlocked, but I can't seem to work out how the lock comes out of the assembly. On that other thread there was mention of a small hole and to put a paper clip in, I cant seem to find that hole? Pete Quote
DonaldSmith Posted November 8, 2014 Report Posted November 8, 2014 You need a key to turn the cylinder to the right spot push the button in, or else booger the button. Look at the thread again, for lock picking, or you can take the whole assembly to a locksmith. Quote
_shel_ny Posted November 8, 2014 Report Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) As D. Smith states, the button can not be pushed in unless you turn the key to the unlock position. If you can pick the lock to do that then you can depress the little button shown in this pic. The button has a spring under it, and it will depress a little without being in the unlocked position, but not enough to release the cylinder. The little button can be ground down a bit with a drill bit or dremel. Save the lock. It could possibly be re-keyed and used in someones door. Pin does not do the holding in doors Edit: another thread to read on this problem. Seaside Pete Posted November 8, 2014 Author Report Posted November 8, 2014 Thanks for the info. As I don't have a key to turn it to the right position I suppose I will take it to a locksmith. Whilst looking at the new lock I noticed that you had to turn the key about 1/5th of a turn to make the pin fully depress. Thanks again for the comments Pete Quote
