Tony_Urwin Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 You are all gonna have to put up with my knuckleheaded questions until I run out. Here's the latest: I had 7.00R15 radials mounted on my truck the other day. The tire store took two hours to mount them. The kid said it was the first time he had ever installed tube tires! Anyway, they put 55 lbs of pressure in the tires. The sidewalls say they are rated to 76 lbs. What do you recommend for tire pressure? Quote
Reg Evans Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Tony, I forget what size your truck is. Heavier truck = more tire pressure. How many plys are your tires? Quote
Tony_Urwin Posted June 17, 2007 Author Report Posted June 17, 2007 Reg, the truck is a B1C-116 and the tires are 10 ply radials. Quote
Reg Evans Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 I'm definitely not an expert on tires or anything else for that matter. From my own experience though with my 57 1 ton with 20" 12 ply radials,45lbs seems to work fine unloaded. Hopefully there is someone else here that knows more about tires......or......maybe the tire store that sold you the tires can give you a better answer if you tell them the GVW of your 3/4 ton. Were your tires expensive? Quote
oldmopar Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 tire inflation info from a 63 gmc manual shows 7.00-15 8 ply tube tire with suggested pressures based on load from 30 psi at 1200 to 60 psi at 1800 yours being 10 ply could hold more but for my 2 cents I would go with the 45 psi as suggested. Tony_Urwin Posted June 18, 2007 Author Report Posted June 18, 2007 The tires are Federal 7.00R15 LT. Tires were $115 each and $15 for each tube. So $130 mounted and balanced. They are very narrow, about 5.7" tread width and over 29" tall. I'll try them at 45 and see how they ride. I need to replace the tie-rods, and possibly the draglink, then I'll have them aligned. Dennis_MN Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 [quote name= The kid said it was the first time he had ever installed tube tires! ?[/quote] Whats the advantage / Disadvantage of installing tubes in Tubless tires? Dennis Quote
Tony_Urwin Posted June 18, 2007 Author Report Posted June 18, 2007 Some guys have used tubes because their rims leaked. These tires, however, are NOT tubeless. They are meant to be installed that way. Quote
