swaluda1 Posted October 24, 2014 Report Posted October 24, 2014 Do you drop it from Spindle front section or drop the pin in the rear part of the control arm. Want to change the coils out. All ready to go but not sure how, thanks, Stan Quote
austinsailor Posted October 25, 2014 Report Posted October 25, 2014 I've done my 40 Dodge sedan by putting a floor jack inner the inner end, removing the 4 nuts, then just letting it down. The spring tension is gone before it gets too far down. Reinstall just the reverse. Quote
Ulu Posted October 25, 2014 Report Posted October 25, 2014 That's how I do mine too. Rolling jack under the a-frame pivot bar, & remove the 4 nuts. As I'm taking the bolts out, I stick a long tapered punch or screwdriver in the holes to keep them aligned until all 4 bolts are out. then it comes right down. I recently took my suspension off that way, & it worked even with the engine & front end stripped off as you see it here; but I stood on the front cross member for ballast as I was working the jack. Dodgeb4ya Posted October 25, 2014 Report Posted October 25, 2014 For speed and simplicity I have always chained the spring for safety, then just pulled the lower outer pin and slowly dropped the A-arm. Fast safe. Jack the car up high enough and set on a jack stand under the frame behind the wheel you are working on. Roll the floor jack under the A-arm seat-remove the lower pivot bolt and drop the A-arm. Quote
Ulu Posted November 2, 2014 Report Posted November 2, 2014 I've done it both ways, depending on what part I'm replacing. It's not that hard on the P-15's Quote
