Patrick Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 Does anyone have a source for rear brake drums for my 52 B3C? Both of them need replaced and I'm having trouble finding any. Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 Patrick; OEM 3/4 ton brake parts can be difficult to find. You may be able to find an old school brake shop that can turn the drums and match a set of new linings to them. Jeff Quote
Patrick Posted August 17, 2014 Author Report Posted August 17, 2014 Unfortunately one of them has a hairline crack in it so I don't think it would be wise to continue using it. Is there a good aftermarket option? I want to keep my truck as original as possible but safety trumps that! Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 Patrick; In that case I would put an advert in the parts wanted section. They are out there. Jeff Quote
B1B Keven Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 Call Hagen's in Puyallup. I've been told they have used Dodge parts along with new. http://hagensautoparts.com/ Quote
bach4660 Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 for the shoes there are a set of 10x2" and a set of 11"x2 on ebay for $60, I think as a 3/4 ton you need the 10"s Quote
Patrick Posted August 19, 2014 Author Report Posted August 19, 2014 Call Hagen's in Puyallup. I've been told they have used Dodge parts along with new. http://hagensautoparts.com/ The guy there said these drums were hard to find 30 years ago...that doesn't make me feel real confident about this. If I am unable to find replacements what is my next option? Do I have to get a different rear end for the truck? Quote
Patrick Posted August 19, 2014 Author Report Posted August 19, 2014 Are the brake drums for a B3B the same as a B3C? If so I think I might have found a set for a reasonable price. Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Patrick; As I mentioned in an earlier post some of the 3/4 ton specific parts are a bit difficult to source. These drums are specific to 3/4 ton model trucks. You are going to need to be patient and persistent if you want to stay with the stock parts. They are out there but much harder to source than 1/2 ton stuff. I swapped in a different rear axle and traded my 3/4 ton parts to another member. Hang in there though. The 3/4 ton trucks have an advantage over some of the other models. 116" is probably the optimum wheelbase and as a result they have a really nice ride in stock form. Jeff Quote
