ED51 Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 What radio was original in a 1951 job rated pickup truck? Does anyone have one? Quote
TrampSteer Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 You might want to try one of these to previous discussions. http://p15-d24.com/topic/36119-installing-speaker/?hl=radiohttp://p15-d24.com/topic/27822-motorola-610-t-restoration/ Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 You will not have enough time or money to find the correct one! 1 Quote
HanksB3B Posted August 7, 2014 Report Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) ED51, My Search began back in August 1983 and ended some 29 years later. The thing of it was most of our trucks were purchased as work trucks with a sticker price of something like $1,300. Radios were an additional $75, a significant amount of money for Clem. who heck, was just going to follow along the plowed furrows and a tube radio bouncing around really didn’t make much sense and relatively cost a whole lot. TrampSteer was kind enough to link the thread showing what I had to go through to get what I now call my “field find” Motorola Model 610-T http://p15-d24.com/t...-t-restoration/ It has been working in my truck for a couple of years. It is probably more dependable and working better than new since all wax capacitors have been replaced with those being currently produced. Nothing beats driving our trucks with a tube radio playing news or better yet a baseball game. I can’t explain it, it just seems to convert my truck into a time machine. (Above, I missed that one) Motorola Model 611-T with correct knobs. (same unit as 610-T) Since that time a only a couple have popped up on Ebay and are a rare find. This NOS 610-T I shipped to me from the Amish country. It works fine even with the original wax-capacitors. I still have this radio. The NOS radio below that arrived complete, in perfect shape, including a speaker, mounting kit and some fabulous original documents and instructions. Both radios are for sale or trade and I can offer them "as-is" (working) or up-grade them with new capacitors and resistors. I just could not pass up this NOS in the original box. Like the brand new “I'm Not Breaking Amish” one, it works fine. Both radios come with the correct 6V Power Supply. The new owner will have to purchase a new 4-ohm 6x9 speaker which are readily available. Hank Edited August 7, 2014 by HanksB3B Quote
