ptwothree Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 While shopping for new windshield rubber, I noticed that Roberts wants $69, Bernbaum is at $96 while Steele gets $220 for theirs.. Does anyone out there know why the huge price discrepancy? Any other sources? I'm having a glass shop install the windshield. It's a '52 Cranny. Quote
Conroe Powdercoating Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 Ive bought windshield rubber from roberts for a 53 dodge pilothouse and the fit was horrible, either they shrank or they were the wrong size, I ended up not being able to even use them as they could be shifted around in the opening a bit. The Oil Soup Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 A friend of mine works for his family's glass business in so cal and specializes in vintage cars. He says that Steele has the most accurate rubber especially for curved glass. The less expensive rubber can be too large/ small , wrong profile or poor quality material. 1 Quote
JerseyHarold Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 If you're doing a Cranbrook, make sure the gasket you get has the groove to accept the stainless steel windshield trim. 1 Quote
