ggdad1951 Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 I made my own tool, worked great (see link). No idea how that one would work, to me it might want to tip the rivet as you set it because of how the jaws will clamp. http://p15-d24.com/topic/27668-setting-split-rivets/?hl=split Quote
TrampSteer Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 I have yet to see one of those rivets. What's the purpose of that and where is it used? And personally, I think I would make GGdad's even if I had one. Something about making tools yourself that appeals to me. Quote
The Oil Soup Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 On mine (B4B) it's on the rubber welt at the top rear of the front fender where it meets the cowl. Perhaps elsewhere also? Quote
ggdad1951 Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 split rivets are on the stripping on the rear and top of the fenders, the fly wheel cover plate and on the triangular shaped splash guards between the cab and fenders. Quote
TrampSteer Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 Thanks - learned something there. The old Gerstner toolboxes used them but not rounded at the clamping end like that. So much to know, so little time. Quote
