body & frame mounts can they be repaired/replaced without removing from frame

Because of the history of my Desoto & the history of the seller, I & my friend, who usually inspected  a vehicle before he would let me by it, didn't do a bumper to bumper inspection. minor things needed to be done, I.e;  tuneup, battery cables, oil change, etc, etc. Seller informed me car needed muffler as I was driving off with it. He had a couple of strokes & I believe he just didn't remember a lot of particulars. I don't believe it was intentional. Took car to muffler shop to install a  universal muffler & custom bend a new tailpipe. That's another whole post !!!!. When the car was on the lift, I discovered that 5 out of 8 body mounts must be replaced & 2 Frame mounts also. Is it possible to just unbolt the body & lift it slightly to do the work? Does anyone know where you could buy the mounts. The Plymouth Doctor has the frame mounts. If you saw the car, you wouldn't believe that they were rusted out.

yes they can and I have repaired/replaced them with the body still on the frame..but odds are you are going to need to remove the flooring..also the odds are if the mounts are gone so in the associated floor panels...so cut and section as needed..there is also another company selling the body mount splice section on E-bay...do inspect close to see if this is a process you want to take on...

It has been a bit I think since on e-bay directly but the man has an e-bay store..one of two companies that deal a lot in aftermarket metal...you may need to go first to e-bay looking for floor pans then click on his e-bay store..I just posted a direct link I think on chat to another person just less than two weeks ago..he is out there...his price was reasonable..I have NOT used his braces...I made my own at the time...not fun mind you but at that time..these guys did not even offer that part..

those parts are for the frame. the Plymouth doctor makes the original ones. they don't make the body mounts. I'm a pretty good fabricater & my buddy is also. I've watched him make floor panel repair pieces. Between the two of us, I think we can make them. I wasn't sure you could do it without lifting the body. he didn't seem fazed by it when I told him about them. it will make a good winter project & he has a lift. the floor pans are in great shape the inner rocker is only bad by one of the mounts. that's why it was so surprising. will keep all posted.
