they are like the u joints we have on semi trucks only smaller you have to take the bolts on the side out  and push the driveshaft to one side or the other to get the caps to move out to where you can pull them out once the caps are out you will have enough clearance to remove the shaft  same for removing the u joint from the rear yoke  bad part is you will most likely lose the needle bearings from the caps ... you could also try looking on you tube for semi truck u joint  replacement

If there is a zerk fitting on the u joint you can minimize the possibility of losing bearings by greasing the joint before removal.  I'd also put something under the joint during dis-assembly to capture anything that may fall out.   Mike

Refrigerator magnets work well as a bench blanket when disassembling most anything.

Please find a few more pictures of the U-Joint. I have looked and there are no grease nipples (Zerk fittings)post-6560-0-71844800-1400241418_thumb.jpgpost-6560-0-03112900-1400241465_thumb.jpg

You take a chisel or a screwdriver and get the locktabs pushed away from the flats of the bolt so you can get a socket or wrench on it. Then remove bolts and plates. Take a hammer and tap the driveshaft back and forth and it will push the caps out. Catch the parts carefully as the others said.

Hello. Many thanks for the advise. I tried what Ed advised. Well it worked. I also tried the magnet trick. That also worked. Thanks again for the sound advise.
