BigDaddyO
That was great! Thanks for posting. I just spent the last hour checking out other videos of that car. There is a half hour clip of the building of the transmission. He also did a quarter mile run in 10 seconds. Oldguy48
Sorry if it seemed that I tried to hijack this thread. I just wanted to share an interesting video. Wayne
OldDad67
You know, if one got on a Chevy forum, and started talking about putting a 318 in a EL Camino....it wouldn't be all love and kisses for sure. I'm not just against Chevy in Mopar, I don't think a Mopar in a chevy, or a ford in a chevy, or Mopar in a Ford, etc, is a good idea anymore. Years ago when the old 40's cars were a dime a dozen, I think that slapping an engine with the wrong DNA into it was no big deal...and there were more chevy engines in the junkyards. Today there's plenty of Ford and Mopar engines too. As the old cars become more rare, I think then it becomes more desireable to have the right DNA. It just fits better. Swapping in a SBC years ago...that's okay. But now I think it should be discouraged. I watch the auctions a lot, and I'm definitely seeing a trend where some really, really nice cars come up for auction, with the wrong DNA in them, and the bidding is weak at best. Same car with the same DNA, whether it's the stock engine or not...bidding picks up, as does price. So I guess my opinion is that a swap done even as little as five years ago...that's one thing. Swapping in an engine with the wrong DNA today, or tomorrow...not a good idea, and really no reason to do that. I think that the awareness is that a engine with the wrong DNA, just not "belong". Nothing to get mad about, or put someone down for....just a rising awareness. Just some rambling thoughts. Haven't even had coffee yet! ken How about a Fiat in a Mopar, I wonder how this would work? I know I'm being a trouble maker now.......
chopt50wgn
When I started getting my 50 wagon in shape, I had lots of my chebby friends say "ya putting a chevy in it?". They also laughed as they said it cause they all knew I am all Mopar. I told them, yeah I know chevy stuff is way cheaper and you could probably walk thru a field and find chevy parts but I don't care. I heard a friend tell another friend about chevys..........................he said chevys are like your kid sisters best girlfriend............she's cute and she's there, but who cares. scotty t
my plymouth is (fire)powered by chrysler, what does that make it? inbred?
Lumpy
Fiat....why I oughta!!! Hmmmm...I'm not sure what would constitute inbred. But I'd say there's nothing inbred in running a Chrysler Fire Power engine. I used to have one in a 1949 Internation Harvester flatbed. But I bought it that way...didn't do any cross breeding myself. ken.

blucarsdn
Interesting how we perceive how good an engine and/or power-train is by who the manufacture was/is.. i.e. SBC, SBM and SBF.. One of the intesting quirks I like is the 4.0 litre Jeep engine. Jeep started using the engine when the company was owned by AMC, then Chrysler bought Jeep and they continued to use the engine in the Cherokee's and CJ's.. The 4.0 litre HO 6 is well known for it's power and longivity. What most people probably don't know is that the engine was developed for a GM program.. After the engine was ready for production, GM cancelled the program.. What to do with a power plant that mega bucks had been spent on.. GM sold it to AMC, ergo it ended up in the Jeep, and the Jeep Cherokee became one of the best selling vehicles that Chrysler had..Chrysler adopted the Vortec engineering to upgrade the venerable 318 into the Magnum 318.. So is a Magnum 318 SBM reallly a Chrysler engine or is it a SBM on GM sterodes? Bill
