Looking for rear ashtrays for P15 coupe

If anyone has any ashtrays for the backseat section of the P15 2-door coupe that they might want to get rid of or sell, please get in touch with me. These are the ones that go in the side panels. I don't care about the condition of the finish, but do prefer that the plastic knobs be in nice shape, if possible. Thanks!

I may be mistaking but I think the knobs are stainless or chrome, not bakelike. I'll have to dig mine out and check them. Haven't looked at them since doing my interior. I left them and the rear arm rest out for a smoother look back there. Not parting with any of that stuff though, but will double check the knobs to see what they are made out of.

The knobs that were on mine were bakealite, but were crumbling. I didn't think I wanted to put them back in, so I gave them away to someone, but now I decided to put them back in to add the finishing touch. I could use chrome knobs, but they wouldn't compliment the bakealite window crank knob.

I'm pretty sure I can locate them but I doubt the knobs are much good. The rest of the window cranks and door knob plastic was trashed.

If your knobs were bakelight mine must be too. Even if Ed's knobs are no good, you could use the ashtray and pick up some chrome knobs from some other car. Then do a little custom paint mixing and paint the knobs the right color. You could use the small bottles of Testors model paint for that small amount.

I'm not hording my ashtrays. Just didn't want to use them in the car. However, like you, we all change our minds sometime. That's why I don't want to part with mine, in case I change my mind someday.

I have a very nice pair of ash trays from the back seat in my 49 P18. They are woodgrain and have an ivory coloured knob. Have no idea what other years they may fit. Would be willing to part with them if they are any good to you.

Do you have a 1st series 49 or a second series. I doubt the second series would fit the P15. Post a picture and their measurements if you can.

P.S.

If nothing else, maybe Darin could use the old P15 ashtrays from Ed, then just the knobs from the 49 ashtrays. That might work.

It is a second series club coupe. The overall dimensions are 3.25 in. wide by 2.5 tall. Don't have any photos at the moment, possibly to-morrow if I can figure out how to do it.

Those ashtrays sound like they are too wide. I didn't go out to the garage and look at mine, but I believe they are only around 2" wide. More of a square looking ashtray than rectangle. However, as mentioned if the knobs are about the same, maybe Darin could switch knobs onto the P15 ashtrays that Ed has.
