Falcon(63) Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Has anyone had a problem putting a V-8 in a stock B series truck? Is the steering box in the way? Wanting to put in a 318. Quote
greg g Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 I believe there is interference with the steering box in the cars. Two ways to fix it are to alter teh motor mounts to move the engine over about an inch and a half to the pass. side, or get another pass side exhaust manifold which will supposidly then clear the steering box, of grab a drivers side maniflod from a 440 with the outlers that go upwards. Rodger S-11 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Hola Name-Less Person While you are in the thinking and planning stage and just need to add an newer engine ( and all the electric's like heater, windshield wiper's, lights and etc ), think of the 2 bbl 3.9 V6. It is the same width & height of the 318 but much lighter. It is also lighter than the 230 flat heat six in the truck now. Due to the short-ness the weight is back off the front axle. Falcon(63) Posted May 29, 2007 Author Report Posted May 29, 2007 I noticed that the 54 Dodge 1/2 ton has the steering box on the outside of the frame. Apparently they moved it to accomodate the new V-8 that year. Other than that are their frames and wheelbases the same as the "B" series? Quote
