ol'skool Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 Looking at repairing a 1948 Plymouth 2 door. I have found the toe board panel but nothing for the front and rear floor pans. Will other year floor pans work? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Quote
GlennCraven Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 I just located this with a Google search and some click-through from other people's link pages. http://www.theplymouthdoctor.com/ Here's their '42 to first-series '49 Plymouth-only catalog. Looks like they have everything you need, though I don't see any pricing information. http://home.comcast.net/~hsherman/42.49.P-15Catalog.pdf Quote
jcmiller Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 The right and left front portions, to the side of the removable portion, appear to be the same for 1942-48. Don't know about the portions behind the removable section. Quote
jhm1mc13 Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Thanks Glenn this is good info. Jim M 1 Quote
GlennCraven Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 I wasn't familiar with that source before, but found them linked from somebody else's page and they look like a help for a lot of these cars. Quote
ol'skool Posted September 28, 2013 Author Report Posted September 28, 2013 He has what i may need, however, it's going to be expensive. I did find the center toe board piece for about half of what Plymouth dr wanted from another vendor but not the other pieces. This isn't like doing a chev or ford. The pieces would have cost around $400-500 for everything instead of $1000+ for this mopar. Quote
DJ194950 Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 If the other is on Ebay be leary as their cheap cost = very poorly built parts that usually do not even work without many modifications! Ply. Dr. at least is highly rated as they built them in the past from original cutouts sent to them. If you have something they have'nt done before they suggest sending them the cutout still to match it==hand built one at a time, but it does cost more. Pay for the parts or pay in your/a shops labor to make it work. Just my 2 cents because I was tottally disgusted with Ebay bought parts in the past and just cut them up for sections of metal to be used. I have seen others that thought they were OK but needed modification but still the cost difference was enough for them to be somewhat satisfied. Your call, Doug 1 Quote
ol'skool Posted September 28, 2013 Author Report Posted September 28, 2013 No, not ebay. If the customer gives the go ahead on the project, I will be ordering everything from him except for the center toe board piece. His price was $470, I can get one for less than $280 since I have an account with them. I understand plymouth dr's quality and I have learned that it is best to pay more for quality parts so you won't be spending all that labor trying to get a cheap over seas piece to fit right because usually they don't fit right and it's a nightmare. I also understand he has a 1948 and that he used his car as a template for the sheet metal pieces. Original pieces used to create replacement parts. He uses 18 gauge cold rolled steel which is by far better than over seas 20/22 gauge pieces. I will be ordering what I can from him if this works out. 1 Quote
matthewshook Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 I just bought an entire new floor for my 46 Dodge from C2C Fabrications in Redford MI. They MAKE the pieces right there in thier shop. I paid less than 700 bucks for front and rear left and right floors, toeboard, left and right toeboard extensions and left and right rocker panels. Didn't need them all, but I figured I would replace everything all at once. I walked in on Friday to order the floors, and walked out with 5 of the 9 pieces. Came back this past Tuesday and picked up the other 4 pieces. If you need floors for anything, I recommend C2C (Classic to Current) Fabrications. 1 Quote
ol'skool Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) C2C is a vendor for my shop and when I called them all they had was toe board piece. Nothing else for a 1948 Plymouth. Can you reply with the part numbers for them. I have to call them tomorrow and order other parts for a 1965 Chev. I wasn't able to verify if other years used same parts. Can someone verify if those pieces you purchased will fit a 48 Plymouth coupe. I understand that dodge was different. I'm ok with modifying pieces if necessary. Mike Petersen Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 I bought a set of their front extension panels and decided not to use them. I did not like the fit. They did not line up with the original toe pan. I will buy Ply. Dr. parts to finish mine. Quote
