Fernando Mendes Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 What is the correct height of the fuel level inside the carburetor bowl? Quote
greg g Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 the top of the float should be 5/64ths below the rim of the float bowl. But this assumes real gasoline. Todays fuel mixtures (ethanol and other additives) are more volatile ( expand more easily) than the old gas that these engines were designed for. From personal experience, I have set mine at about 7/64ths. This setting gives a bit more room for expasion and prevents percolation of hot fuel into the intake manifold. 1 Quote

Fernando Mendes Posted September 11, 2013 Author Report Posted September 11, 2013 ""Hi Fernando,Does your carburetor have a sight hole? If so, then the procedure is outlined in TM 9-1802A, Paragraph 205e, Carburetor Float Adjustment. "Fuel level may be checked without disassembling carburetor by removing sight hole plug (located just below fuel inlet). Fuel level should be at bottom of hole when carburetor is sitting level."Best Regards...""(GMC 1944 site) Quote
