MarkAubuchon Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Bought a new rubber cowl seal from Steele for my 50 1/2 ton. A crazy question how do you install it? Is it glued to the vent itself, or do you try and fit it to the cowling portion? Quote
MBF Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 What I did with mine was to take off the vent door and then clean out the groove where the seal sits. I then used a contact cement and clothepins to go all the way around the seal to hold it in place while the adhesive dried. When you put the vent door back on you'll have to adjust it using the concentric shouldered bolts so that it opens and closes properly. Mike Quote
ggdad1951 Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 I actually used my vent itself to hold it down. Put the glue in set the seal and gently placed the cowl vent on top. Put a blanket down and some weights on top of that. Quote
Desotodav Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 There's been plenty of talk on this topic over the years Mark, Have you tried a search on 'cowl vent seal'?
