greg g Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Finally quit draining the sky around here so I went to the Area Mopar show. Met up with Bill Davie who has a 54 Pickup, ad Big John, withthe not quite fiished early 50 Chryshler. We had some good chat saw some neat cars. A fellow appeared with a very nice 47 Dodge 4dr sedan, he recently aquired from a widow sellig of her husbands car. It shows about 60K and is a very nice to look at and a good driver. He is a younger fellow and seems quite happy with his find evethought it not a Mucsle car. He had to have a lt of wires replaced as some apparent tries to start it resulted in ome damage from a 12V jump that got left on. I met a couple other folks one building a 47 coupe and another a 48 4 door, so Plymouths are coming out of the bars and sheds. The Mopar club does all its class awards some others. the have a parade of these singled out awrds for Best Paint, preidents choice, sponsors choices and long distance. So I got a bit supicious when teh long distance award was given to a "pro street" style Valiant 2 door. It had NY plates. Other than the eastern end of Long Island, their ain't much OF NY that is 300 miles away for the show site so I wodered whee this guy came from. As it happened I followed the car out of the show area. He made a hard left in the Parking lot and headed for a trailer. So evenif he dod come from Montauk or east port, he didn;t drive the dar Valiant any more than 1/2 mile from the trailer to the fiels and back. Now this isn't really a BIG deal, but I do fit a bit sorry for the fellow that drove his from 125 miles away. I went to a show on Sat and my coupe had its 100K moment. So now it shows 85 miles today. 1 Quote
Niel Hoback Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Greg, congratulations on getting your "new" Plymouth! I am curious how the Plymouths are "coming out of the bars,,,,,". Although mine goes a little crooked now and then, I don't think it was in a bar. Quote
greg g Posted July 1, 2013 Author Report Posted July 1, 2013 Well I have a loose "N" button, so most times when I hit it it doesn't mark its territory. That explains the difference between barns and bars. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Thats funny, even spellcheck wouldn't have caught that either! Quote
frankieflathead Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Cool beans, Greg. I feel lucky to have made it to the Great Barrington, Mass., show on the 23rd in my coupe, as it has basically hasn't stopped raining here since, either. Where in New York was this show? Quote
40plyrod Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 Well I have a loose "N" button, so most times when I hit it it doesn't mark its territory. That explains the difference between barns and bars. I've been in the odd bar where that would probably be the only difference Quote
greg g Posted July 2, 2013 Author Report Posted July 2, 2013 The show is at a county park near the Outlet of Onondaga Lake, formerly the most polluted body of water in the country. Thanksto Allied chemical, Arm and Hammer, the Solvay process, and the Metropolitan Drainage and Sewage district. But I digress. This area hosts about 5 or 6 shows a summers. AACA, All Ford Club, The Mopar Association, Spaamfa, And the ATHS all put on their annual shows there. Nic place with lots of trees to park under. Quote
Big_John Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 It was great to meet Bill and to finally meet Greg! I've walked by his car many times at shows but never saw him around it before. Greg, regarding the "Long Distance" award, the show chairman is an old friend of mine. He asked me what I thought about the show and I have mentioned that in an email to him. I'm sure the award wasn't intended for a trailered car, but we'll see what he has to say. 1 Quote
