MarkAubuchon Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Update, I have a 1950 1/2 ton that I bought in pieces (I didn't take it apart) Reassembly has started. When installing the gas tank, I cannot figure out the rear mount (on my 48 there is a bracket) , in the 50 no bracket or spot for bracket. Are their different size tanks?, any pictures of mounting? Fowl Jeff Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Hi Mark, If no one gets back to you today I can check my 1950 3/4 ton tonight when I get home from work. You and I are at opposite ends of the process: I'm taking mine apart while you're putting yours back together.. - Jeff Quote
Desotodav Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Our trucks here in Oz have the same gas tank mounting bracket and I can't imagine that yours would be any different. You should have a couple of holes in your cross-member where the bracket mounts to. See these forum links for more detail http://mopar.pairserver.com/p15d24ph_forum/topic/23570-gas-tank-springs/ , and http://mopar.pairserver.com/p15d24ph_forum/topic/30192-rear-gas-tank-mount/?hl=%2Bgas+%2Btank+%2Bmount . Merle Coggins Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 As you may have already figured, the front of the tank bolts up to the lower rear flange of the cross member that runs behind the transmission. The rear should attach to a support bracket coming off the frame, seen in this picture. It should sit on top of the rear bracket and be bolted down with springs under the bolt heads to allow for some flex. Quote
