I doubt it as the 36 trans top cover/tower extends over the bell housing and '52 bolts up flush

Needs the early bellhousing to match the trans as said before the trans top goes over the bellhousing.

The 37-39'?? trans I had for a while was given to a friend who's 37 4 dr. trans was noisy in 1st. gear.

Gave him the early stock clutch with it and to him it looked so different from what he was used to seeing in '37's, I had to tell him either take it or it was going to the garbage!

1936's did have not much HP, so I don't think I you try it out with a higher HP!! 50 PLy.

Maybe not the best idea?

Best to ya,

Doug

well i was just thinking of using the 36 clutch for now with my 52 trans, so the 36 clutch wont work if i dont have the early bellhousing and trans? http://www.ebay.com/itm/CLUTCH-PACKAGE-FOR-1933-1954-PLYMOUTH-3-SPEED-STANDARD-/171023027802?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1952%7CMake%3APlymouth&hash=item27d1c44e5a&vxp=mtr i found this so im guessing i should be able to atleast use the clutch

I have a 36 Dodge trans, a 37 dodge trans, and a couple 38 Plymouth trans.

With any of these bellhousings, I could bolt any of the transmissions, to my 56 Dodge engine,

or my 37 Dodge engine..

I have had 3 of these in my 38 Coupe, but ended up with a Ranger 5 speed/Plymouth bellhousing

setup, Ranger clutch, Plymouth pressure plate.

So, the proper bellhousing is the key, yes?

Yes,

I have several of the 36, 37, and 38 bellhousings, and a spare 37, and 56 engine to get

my measurements from. The 56 had a very deep bell housing, but i installed the 38 bell

to the 56 when setting up my 5 speed combo. So far, working very good....
