Radio For Pilot-House

Recommended Posts

I have always heard that the radio's were installed at the dealer and that the hole for the antenna was drilled at the dealership.  I'm not sure if there was some sort of locating template or if the antenna was located randomly in a location that "just looked right".

I think they just went for the looks "right" route when installing the hole for the antenna. I am fairly sure my 52 B3B had a factory radio because of the antenna it had when I bought it. I have seen two identical antennas on ebay that were supposedly stock out of B3Bs that matches mine (I tried to buy one but someone out bid me with seconds to go).  I think someone down the road put a mopar model 820 in during a "fix-up" period in the truck. My truck had body work, repainted, and a 230 put in it at some point. Its hard to say for sure though. There were traces of a speaker behind the stock location in the dash too.  I think most accessories were dealer added.

My antenna came in the original box w/assembly and mounting instructions however we went by what looked and worked the best because of the length of the antenna when extended above the cab. Plus my antenna had a very long cord so connection was not a problem.....
