hate to ask a ? about something other than old mopar stuff , but as everyone well knows there is just no others place on the net to get any descent info about any kind of car except here ... maybe someone can help it is on a 97 saturn but i guess it could apply to any car , the problem is on the air conditioner, worked fine last year but when i turned it on this season just hot air ? so i guess it`s low on freon so i go to recharge it hooked up a gauge to the low pressure side and it read danger ? check it out > so i guess it isn`t low and there is another problem ? it is blowing the a/c fuse everytime i push the a/c switch ? i read that if it is low on freon it can cause a fuse to blow , so i unhook the compressor it still blows a fuse ,also ran a wire from the battery to the compressor and it kicked on fine so i guessing it isn`t the compressor . there is a a/c relay could this be bad ?? also a fuse diode in the fuse box could this be the bad or could it be a bad switch ?? when i push the switch the little light comes on then when i turn the fan up it blows ?? does anybody have a clue here or has anybody delt with this on one of their cars thanx for any input ,,,,,chance

I'd seriously suggest visiting and signing up on one of the "Saturn enthusiast" forums. Yes, they are out there and I've seen very active ones. There are some seriously dedicated people out there that take great pride even in rebuilding even their little 4cyl. saturn engines (oem rings wear out bad) - I've read bits and pieces when researching various things. Did you check any troubleshooting sections of technical service manuals. Even non Saturn cars will have sections that will pertain to such electrical or climate control system troubleshooting. I've got an 02 saturn. What is your mileage?

Concerning the fact that your system leaked in the first place Its my own rule that anytime an A\C system leaks (home or auto) you do NOT just try and recharge. Its a waste of money to replace such when you have not determined and eliminated the leak!

never but never chage any AC system without the benefit of both Discharge and Suction gauges. Without the reading of both troubleshooting your system is just a guess...And this system could have a trinary switch..at best a binary switch and worse case a LP switch to prtect the system. If the pressure is too high it shold cycle the clutch..if not enough it will not cycle the clutch on..if you have a trinary switch it should trigger your fan relay which could be also routed through you on board computer. The system I think is orifice tube evap flood and therefore metered constant flow..the system could be pugged there. The orifice tube SUPPOSEDLY dictates that an accumulator in in the system and not so much a receiver dryer..rec/dryer is prior to the evap from the condensor..the accumulator is between the evap and compressor...

You will really need to test both side of the system...as for leak..it should not have totally leaked over the winter unless you just parked the car...the molecues of the 134A is smaller and will leak at a faster rate I have read..cycling the system during winter keeps all seal lubed and less likely to pass gas...especially the front rotary seal on the compressor...most time if it by passed here there will be sign of refrigeration oil ..put in a minimum of 2 oz of recommend oil...Ester...it could very well run the season after the lube hit the dry o-rings without any more service.
