northpaul Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 I'm new to old cars and this winter will be the first one in which I house the 48 Plymouth I got this year in the garage. My question is about oil changes. Is it best to keep the current old oil in it over Winter and then change to new oil when Spring comes? Or change oil now for the Winter and then change it again when Spring comes? Or are there other options? So much to know and I appreciate all advice. Thanks in advance. Quote
Young Ed Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 I change mine in the spring. My pickup didnt get used that much the year before so I didnt even change it this year. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 North Paul, I change mine every March and every September whether its needs it or not. Save money - store it then change oil in the spring when getting ready to drive it. I would buy the oil now though because its not getting any cheaper. If Iran gets out of control - Hit - its going to go through the roof price wise. Save by buying a few 5 qt bottles of oil now. Then next year you'll be glad you did. Tom Quote
54Illinois Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 I would wait until spring to. Farm & Fleet had SAE30 on sale...$1.99 a quart! Quote
