Hank "There's nothing wrong with painting your truck by yourself in fact (wish I could find the thread) but there was someone that used paint that was around $100/gal (happened to be powder blue) that they applied themselves and I thought it turned out looking great. It might even have been Rustoleum."

Was this the truck you were thjinking of? I painted it with Tremclad (rustoleum). About $30 a gallon. Painted it in pieces. First time I ever painted a truck while trying to make it look good. Its ok in the pictures or from 10 feet away.

Yes that's the one and I don't mind telling you I think it turned out great!

I have been POR 15ing everywhere I think rust will be an issue as I get to those spots. I would paint the old girl myself, but those of you who know where I live will understand why I don't consider it. The wind blows most days and hard a good portion of the days, and there is a dirt locals warmly refer to as poof dirt. It gets into everything. I don't know anyone with a shop where I could paint, but my guess is that will be the direction I go. I will just be happy to have the engine done. I asked the guy at the shop the other day if we could shoot for December to have it done, he smiled and said "yes we can shoot for that". I supspect it will be next spring before I see it. Dang, over a year to get it done.
