jimfenick Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 I was trying to find out what the fluid is in the heat guage? When I seperated the line from the engine block, it has an odor of alcohol/starting fluid. Any suggestions? This is the line that goes from the engine block to the guage in the cab. Quote
HanksB3B Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) Ether. The single most difficult part to find NOS, but can be repaired. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll post the How-To when I'm at my desktop. PM me if I don't. Hank Edited September 24, 2012 by HanksB3B Quote
B1B Keven Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 After Hank posts the 'how to'. If you don't want to try it, I repair them for $40. Quote

jimfenick Posted September 25, 2012 Author Report Posted September 25, 2012 Guys, Thanks for the info. I was wondering why I was feeling happy all day after seperating the line. When I get ready I will come back to you guys to redo all my guages. I am in the middle of complete disassembly. I hope to have the cab off this weekend and then off to the sand blaster for the frame. Quote
B1B Keven Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 Jim, This is some of the work I've done: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=31588 http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=31796&highlight=dash Quote
HanksB3B Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) Jim, I figured someone would beat me to it. Keven's deal for $40 is the way I'd go. My wife would kill me if I blew the house up and killed myself. Definately not a fire and explosive gas type guy...more the wood and glue kind of guy. Soldering (and I must say I'm excellent at it) is about the most daring thing I do...Electricity...after nearly killing myself one time when I was in my twenties, I'm good with because I have a lot of respect for it. Good luck and keep at it, Hank Tim that google search thing is way cool...How'd you do that? Heres a search for how to set up a "Let me Google that for you" link: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=let+me+google+that+for+you&l=1 There is an equivalent one for Bing: http://letmebingthatforyou.com/?q=let%20me%20bing%20that%20for%20you Quote

Daliant. Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 Has anybody tried to replace the ether in the original bulb/tube setup and been successful? Or is replacing the bulb/tube with one from an other working gauge the only way. Quote
