Smokeybear Posted September 23, 2012 Report Posted September 23, 2012 Here are a couple of pics of my 48 with the front roll pan finished. I made it the same way as I did the rear, a frame of steel angle and 3/16 rod and finished with fiberglass. Quote
thrashingcows Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 Did you make it removable? Looks cool. Quote
Smokeybear Posted September 24, 2012 Author Report Posted September 24, 2012 Did you make it removable? Looks cool. Yes both front and back are removable. 8 bolts in the factory locations of the splash pan on the front, on the back there are 2 bolts on each side and 6 sheet metal screws up into the lower lip of the trunk pan. Both are VERY stout but easily taken off in case of a needed repair. Quote
windsor8 Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 Your roll pan looks good and looks like it belongs on the car. I like the "peak" in the center. Do you have a picture of the rear pan? Quote

Do you have a picture of the rear pan? It started raining about 5 minutes after I sprayed the paint. Luckily it dried enough not to hurt it. Quote
thrashingcows Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 That looks very slick...well done!! And the fact that it's easily removable is even better. Did you take lots of pics as you built them...would like to see how things went together. Quote

Here is the completed outer frame and how it mounts to the sides From there I got in the zone and forgot to take more pictures but all that I added was some 3/16 round rod to form the vertical curvature then I wrapped it in two layers of fiberglass mat and finished it with filler. The front was made the same way except the bottom edge was also 3/16 rod instead of the angle iron. I used rod so that the bottom edge that goes all the way up to where it meets the fender would be a gentle roll instead of an abrupt angle. Quote
