Norm's Coupe Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Bob, I might be interested too, depending on how much "way less" is. How much does your friend want for his? Quote
Bob Riding Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 I'll call him and find out...seems like around $150, but I may be off. Bob Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Bob, That is half the price on ebay but still at least $100 more than what I would pop for. Quote

Bob Riding Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I talked with Jim today and he has a few left. The guy that helped him make the mold has left the company, so once he sells this lot, that will be it. His price is $125. These are better than NOS. They are crystal clear and the logo is very sharp. If you want the rechromed hood ornament + insert it's $275. Bob Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I will say they do look nice. Fit fine and design is good. Quote
randroid Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Gents, I think I have an extra base laying around without the glass. I'll scrounge for it if somebody wants it for postage and a 6-pack. -Randy Quote

Believe your beer of choice is Budweiser. Do you still store it under your house? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Don, have you tried removing your plastic insert and cleaning it with car wax on the inside. That can sometimes help its clarity, at least a little bit. However, it won't do anything for the pitting. You have probably noticed people selling ornaments like yours on ebay saying they are perfectly good, but will need replated. So you have a $10 or $20 item there. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Dawn dish washing soap also works great cleaning the inside of the inserts. I cleaned mine that way after picking up a newly rechromed hood ornament. Got it for a lot less than $150 though. The person I bought it from didn't have the insert so used my old one. Don, check your "Private Messages". Quote

Robin (UK) Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Don, I'm sure I have a spare hood ornament in far better shape than yours. I'd happily send it to you for the price of the postage, but I'm guessing that from the UK it would be about 15 or 20 bucks. If you can't get one cheaper, closer to home, let me know and I'll find it in my garage and pop it in the mail. Robin. Quote

Interesting. ----- How Latex Gloves are Made A dentist noticed that his next patient, a very elderly lady, was looking very nervous, so he decided to tell her a little joke as he put on his gloves. "Do you know how they make these gloves?" he asked. "No, I don't." she replied. "Well," he spoofed, "there's a building in China with a big tank of latex and workers of all hand sizes walk up to the tank, dip in their hands, let them dry, then peel off the gloves and throw them into boxes of the right size." She didn't crack a smile. 'Oh, well. I tried,' he thought. But five minutes later, during a delicate portion of the dental procedure, she burst out laughing. "What's so funny?" he asked. "I was just picturing how condoms are made!" she said. You've gotta watch those little old ladies! Their minds are always working! Quote
