Suess Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 47 Plymouth b/c As I sit still waiting for the engine to be finished. I started to look at rims. I want to get rid of the aluminum rims and go to the original look of the outer ring and the Plymouth ship center caps. But I know next to nothing about rims. The plan is to keep the same size tire in the rear 205/75R15. But go to a narrower tire in the front. I have a 195/75R15 currently. I did do the disc brake conversion and lowered the front with the eaton springs and moved the coil perch down. ( going for a raked look) I am really hung up on using the Plymouth ship caps. I don't want to lose that look. Should I go narrower on the front? Do I need an offset for the front because of the disc brakes? Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Quote
james curl Posted July 13, 2012 Report Posted July 13, 2012 I run the stock wheels and caps with the Plymouth sail on them, I am running P 205 75 15 radials all around without any problems. I used Old Daddy's kit to install the disc brakes. Quote
maurice wade Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 I used stock rims with Goodyear eagles, did install steel valve stems. I did this about three years ago and have added little air to any of the tires.:) Quote
Oldguy48 Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 I'm running stock wheels with 215/75R15 tires and Old Daddy's disc brake conversion. Quote
Suess Posted July 14, 2012 Author Report Posted July 14, 2012 Thank you for the response. I thought I was screwed with the front. The rims that are on it now had the holes drilled deeper so that it get some more thread ( that was done years ago). I never noticed it before until I did the disc brake conversion and started wondering why the holes looked wallered out. I figured I was going to have to get some weird back set rim. Again thanks for the info Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 without pictures, one could think the rims you are using are modern and are in need of bulge style lugs..these displace more clamping pressure Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 the pictured rims appear to be of the Progressive line up of aftermarket wheel..they will require bulge fasteners..they look so much like the ones I traded for to use on my Bz Cp..long story short..the the 12.1 rotors and brake calipher will not allow anything smaller than 16 inch wheels..so..using late model Dodge wheels instead..will hold these rims for another car down the road..
