55 is alive Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 Got this 55 Dodge cab, bed and frame out of my Dads woods, been there forever, started working on it, and realized, no numbers to be found on it anywhere. Now my question on this is, how am I gonna get this titled in Ohio, so I can enjoy it on the road? Also, the windshield has been cracked, is there any way to fix the windshield? Maybe get a new one made, and use the old one as a templete? Any answers sure would help me! Quote

The windshield is curved 1 piece, same windshield 1955 2nd series, to 1966 is a possibility.Speedy may also be able to supply this windshield. If you have flatglass, then get it cut, new windshiled rubber from Steele or Andy Bernbaum. Does you state allow small cracks in the windshield my locale does as long as it is below the drivers sightline. Welcome, and good luck...... Quote
55 is alive Posted May 8, 2012 Author Report Posted May 8, 2012 I have searched the whole thing and nothing, no numbers on the firewall. The front end has been replaced with another front end, so no numbers on the frame either. It has a curved windshield. Thanks for your reply. Quote

55 Fargo Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 I'm willing to try anything, hoping I may be able to get a builders title. Could you use the engine number, if you use the flathead 6, or do they actually check. Maybe I can dig 1 up for you, but it would be a Canadian built tag. I have a parts truck a 55 Dodge, 1 ton, that has the tag, but it supposed to be sold. Better not think of giving you that number, in case they have plans to register it someday, and VIN numbers are all on the computer for every state and Canadian Province no doubt..... Quote
55 is alive Posted May 8, 2012 Author Report Posted May 8, 2012 No engine or tranny with it, I would love to have anything to go off of. If you could possibly part with those, would be willing to take off your hands! Quote

Will PM you and let you know, when I find out.... Quote

Reg Evans Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 I have this one in my bone yard for a 56 I think. Will this work for you ? Quote
55 Fargo Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 Reg, that would work for this Guy I am sure. It would be better, than if I sent a Canadian tag. Sorry 55alive, slipped my mind about the serial number tag, don't think I have an extra anyway.... Quote
steve57dodgetruck Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 Replica Replacement tags, such as the one pictured, are available on eBay. You'd have to fill in some numbers on your own. I bought one and can give you contact info if a eBay search comes up empty. And I'll Give you a windshield that has some scratches but no cracks (from a '57 d100). I live in SE Ohio (Athens). 1 Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 how am I gonna get this titled in Ohio, Where in Ohio? Quote
Rusty O'Toole Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 Check with your DMV if you can register a homebuilt vehicle. You will need receipts for parts like engine, body, etc and will probably need to be inspected. In most cases it is not too much of a hassle and you will have a legit registration. Quote
55 is alive Posted October 6, 2013 Author Report Posted October 6, 2013 Thanks guys, I totally forgot to check back in on here. Reg Evans, if you still have that I would be interested in it. I'm not to far away from you Don, I am in Highland county. Steve I found a place to make me a new windshield, just lack of funds are stopping me. Thanks for all your help. Quote
