Martin53Cranbrook Posted May 5, 2012 Report Posted May 5, 2012 what can swap over from my 218? also i am told this 230 came out of a Plymouth with Hy-Drive, will i have to add a Hy-Drive trans to make it work or can i use the 230 with my stock 3-speed? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 5, 2012 Report Posted May 5, 2012 the block has two passages for oil feed/return to the converter and supply this through a special adapter plate between the engine and torque converer..as it feeds off the mains and returns to the pan..one would think a simple plug of the two could render the block sericable to other basic tranny setups..but I have no first hand experience in this..I know other makes that have similar setups and can be retrofitted with a bit of work to use the special block for normal clutch opertions.. 54Illinois Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 The motor from the Hy Drive will need the plug for the oil passage. Also, Hy Drive was a early model, not sure they made them in a 230. What is the cast date on the block? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 Hy-drive was a 218..Plymouth did not get the 230 till later in the 54 production year with the introduction of the full automatic Powerflite. Quote

54Illinois Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 If that is the case, just plug the hole:eek: Quote
