ggdad1951 Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 so how tight should I put the two screws on the hold down? I don't want to crush my functioning temp gauge capilary! Should I have split lock washers on the screws? Quote
HanksB3B Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Not super tight, but just tight enough so that you can't pull on it and it won't slide back and forth. Hank Quote

I put a split lock ring LW under the screw heads and tightened nice and snug....here's hoping I didn't crush anything! Guess I'll find out in a few weeks. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 I'm sure they were tightened down completely from the factory. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted April 11, 2012 Author Report Posted April 11, 2012 I popped the probe back out of the block last night and stuck it in boiling water...still works well, so it seems these things can take quite the clamping! Quote
