Drdialtone Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 I have searched the forum for info on this heater...no joy. I want to install it, but not sure what I need for it to work. I've got cables for the dash controls, defrost metal attachments. Does anyone have a diagram of how to connect the water lines? Thanks! Quote
greg g Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 Basically its an off or on type deal. The 36 I have is controlled by a maual valve gate fixture at the head outlet. one hose for inlet one for outlet. you adjust the air flow by opening and closing the doors. There should be an intermediary piece with a cable controlled flap that fits to the square to provide control to the defroster. One ed square to mate up to the outler and then a Y splitter to feed the ducts going to the def difusers. I believe there should be a wedge shaped piece of sheetmetal that goes between the heater and the firewall to make up for the angle imposed by the firewall. You wold need to drill hole throughthe firewall to accept the three threaded mounting rods. though they look much longer than they need to be. Mine is different as the inlet and outlet pipes are threaded for large stamped sheetmeta nuts that go on the engine side of the firewall. There should be a feed wire and ground wire for the blower. Connect one to the switch and the other to a good groud and you should be good to go. The water lines aren't fussy just conect one t the outlet at the rear of the head and th other to the waterpump fitting. Which ever way looks neeter or is most convenient. If your unit has a heat control cable that needs to go to a valve in the line from the head outlet. The 35 only has the fan switch and the def cable. Quote

I was hoping to find a pdf of the original installation document too. Quote

Mark Haymond Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 That's a nice looking unit. I used a Four Seasons 161 74677 Heat Control Valve in the engine compartment to control the amount of hot water flow to my Mopar 36 heater. This valve has a control crank that can be pushed on and off with a dash mounted push pull knob. It was easy to splice it in line with one of the heater hoses. http://www.amazon.com/Four-Seasons-74677-Heater-Valve/dp/B000C2Q8J8 Quote
