Roadkingcoupe Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 (edited) Ebay is a wealth of hard to find parts. Regardless if you love or hate eBay as a source of parts, the most amazing thing is the number of misleading ads and plain mistakes on the part of the vendors. In this case I would imagine the purchaser would be "upset" to find out that the 1939-1943! NOS roof section only fits 1946-1948 Plymouth P-15 and Canadian Dodge D25. If you look at the pictures on the roof someone has chalked in 1939-1943. 1937-1939 shared similar body work however the 1937 had a one piece, flat wind out windsheild, the 1938 had a one piece fixed windsheild. In 1939 there was a "V" shaped two piece windsheild. All of these years of Plymouth had the W/S Wipers mounted on the top (except for the Verts). 1940 was the first year of the major body changeover that was similar to the post war vehicles (W/S Wipers mounted on the bottom) as pictured. And of course there were NO 1943 Plymouth or Dodge civillian vehicles manufactured. So part # 988239 specs out to fit 1946-1948 Plymouth P15 and also 1946-1948 Dodge D25 (Canadian and export) vehicles. A costly mistake if you dont do your homework. Expensive shipping to return the item when it doesn't fit your 1939 Plymouth! Even more amazing is how a part was sitting around from 1942 that wasn't manufactured until years later after the war! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1939-1941-NOS-PLYMOUTH-2-DOOR-SEDAN-ROOF-PANEL-/320807622295?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item4ab19fd697 Edited February 6, 2012 by Roadkingcoupe add info Quote
Young Ed Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Interesting. It says 2door sedan but from the looks of it shouldn't it be any sedan? I know a guy with a p15 4dr that a barn fell on..... sad part is for $700.00 you can buy an entire p15 parts car with a decent roof and come out way ahead. Quote
roadworthy Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 I don't know... it's written in chalk, so that seems pretty legit Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 If you take time to watch ebay and look for mis-identified items, you can get a deal sometimes. Of course, you want to keep it to yourself when you find one. At least, until you get it bought. If you tell about it before, you'll likely have competitors in the bidding. Quote
