Daliant. Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 I cant locate the V.I.N. that should be stamped on the driver side frame rail. I know its supposed to be near the kick up over the axle but all I can find is LP15L stamped in about 1/2" tall letters which I'm assuming is the just part number for the frame rail because the passenger side is stamped P15R. Anyone have a picture that shows the the size of the letters? Is it possable that the frame was never stamped or maybe stamped in another location, top of the rail maybe? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 mine was just about dead center of the top of the arch..and yes there is also a part number on the frame Quote
Jim Yergin Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 I may be wrong but I thought the number stamped on the frame rail is the engine number. If so then on your car it should start with P15. I don't think you will find a VIN (serial number) on the frame rail. Jim Yergin Quote
deathbound Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Here are a couple pics from my '38......first are the #'s-should be the same as the engine# without the model#...P6 in my case, second is the size-just over 1/4". If the engine# & frame# don't match-one has been changed, most likely the engine. It was located on the drivers side outside about 2" behind the gas tank cross member (as seen in 1st pic)...or about 1/2 way between the rear axle & rear spring shackle. Quote
Jim Benjaminson Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 You will NOT find a VIN number on the frame - only the engine number. Quote
Daliant. Posted February 4, 2012 Author Report Posted February 4, 2012 Thanks, those pics helped. Quote
