not likely, they are 2bbls, so you need to get an adapter (commonly available speed shop item) then tinker with the linkage. Also the carb that most folks use is a progressive throttle carb that was utilized on 1.4 to 2 liter 4 cylinder cars like pintos, and such. As such it is used generally in pairs on our 3.5/3.7 liter engines. So a single one would probably be too small for the proper care and feeding of the flattie as a single operation. There may be others that are made for aplications on larger engines, but you would probably need to sift through the CW catalog to make a selection. There is probably one that would work as a single, but its ot the one generally sold for use in dual applications.

This might work, sold for Jeep 6 cylinders but pricey at $400 and you still need an adapter and linkage,

I used a Holley 94 model 2110 2 barrell from a '56 Ford Mainline or Custom with an automatic. I also dropped the jets down a couple of sizes. I went this way to have the dampner effect for the fluid drive on my '49 D30. I was able to use the same linkage by turning the carb 90 degrees on the adaptor and shortening one rod on the linkage by screwing it in a little bit. Others have used a Lokar cable to replace the hard linkage.

I have gone to a larger air cleanter since this pic. To take advantage of the heat choke tube I used an exhaust manifold from a '54 Plymouth, but it wouldn't be too hard to come up with a method of using this automatic choke for an earlier model.

What do you do about the 2 electric switches on the Fluid Drive car's carburetor?

Switches for what? Fluid Drive and a 3spd trans has no switches!

Unless he has an M5 or M6 trans, with switches, for those trans.

Happens I have a 49 Chrysler and a 51 DeSoto and have owned 52 Chrysler and worked on 53 and 54 Chrysler. All had the Fluid Drive and semi auto trans, and all had 2 switches on the carburetor.

I have thought of installing a different carb, or dual carbs, or possibly fuel injection. But could never figure out a really good way to replace those switches. The best I could come up with was a couple of micro switches on the throttle linkage.

So, I thought if someone had a good answer it might be a handy thing to know.
