John,

Mine go all the way from one end to the other, although the length changes at times.

Sorry, couldn't resist. If it is simply bare dimensions you seek I'll measure mine tomorrow but a proper spring cannot be substituted by those measurements alone; too many variables like tension, etc.

Good one Randy:

Left myself wide open on that one. But in all seriousness, I meant off the car, not tension, I have 2 in the trunk and was just wondering if they were the right ones or not. Thank You for the answer you gave anyway.

No, it's not that one, I found two more smaller in diameter about 11 inches long or so. But that one I don't believe is the right one, too short. Other treasures??? Ha. Looks more like junk. But it's still there.

I also found some trim that has a line in the middle of it. But on the parts car I have it doesn't have that line. Also found an electric wiper set up, don't know if it will fit or not but going to see. A spare radio. A alot of parts from a newer model mopar. Also a lot of rust, it's free to who ever wants it(the RUST).

John the 42s had similar trim with a line down the middle.

John,

The hood springs on my '48 P-15 are 1 1\16" dia. and about 12 1\2" long installed. The actual spring is about 7" with an extension on the top to fit through the hinge area. There is a short, sharp hook on each end that doesn't resemble the photo so my first guess is that what you have isn't for the hood. My deck lid has about the same springs as the hood except the spring part is full length. My clutch and brake pedal return springs aren't original so I'm no help there. Maybe it's from an aftermarket muffler bearing emergency release mechanism?

Good luck,

-Randy

The spring shown in my parts manual looks like this. But they do not give any size specifications. I think the gauge of the wire from which the spring is made may be a consideration for strength, along with length and diameter
