19fortybizcoupe Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 I've been doing some searches and reading peoples articles on disc brake conversions, but I haven't found anything yet.. My question is: If I do a front disc brake conversion on my 40 coupe that currently has the stock 16" wheels, what later model wheel in a 15" would have clearance for the caliper and yet still be able to run my 40 hubcaps? Thanks guys. Quote
Jim Yergin Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 I am using 15" wheels from a P15 on my '41 Plymouth with disc brakes front and rear and my '41 hub caps. No clearance problems. Jim Yergin Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 you did a search here and got nothing..wow..unbelievable..even if you spelled disc = disk you get a wealth of information..but I must admit, you will have to open and read the threads.. Quote
Olddaddy Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I replied to your earlier email today, did you not get it? I use a Mopar rotor that was chosen so people could use their original wheels and hubcaps. Any Mopar wheel with a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern can be used with my kits. The only caveat is that 14" wheels may not clear the caliper without using a spacer behind the wheel. Later model wheels will not work with your original hubcaps. If money is no object Stockton Wheel will install your original wheel centers into later style rims that will clear a rotor. That being said, if your original wheels are in good shape they should work fine and since they are 16" should clear the caliper. Quote
