jimwheeldon Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I noticed my 50 Plymouth doesn't have the "optional" oil filter. I'd like to put one on. Should I use a modern remote system? I'd rather find one that is/looks stock. What would be the best for the engine and the most user friendly to maintain? I did a search in the tech. archives but didn't come away with any concrete answers. Any help would be appreciated. Quote
greg g Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 Including the plumbing and bracket. Send me a PM and we'll see what we can do to get you filtered. Sorry the pic doesn't want to open larger, takes a Fram cartridg or NAPA 1080. Quote

james curl Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 Richie in Georgia modified his 218 to full flow. He bored and tapped two holes in the boss that the oil pump bolts to. The holes go in the pressure side of the boss. He enlarged the port half way in and installed a welch plug to force the oil out of the first hole and through the full flow filter and back to the second hole into the oil galley. Quote
greg g Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 I think there was just a pretty extensive thread regarding this and Shel posted the pic from the manual. My manual shows the inlet pipe coming from the oil gallery casting (the ridge on the dizzy side of the block that the oil pressure gauge feeds from) going to the top fitting og the oil filter canister. The return line goes from the lower fitting to a fitting on or near the pressure reliefe valve casting. The canister it self mount to the rear of the head using the mountings that the throttle linkage is mounted with. If this doesn't clear things up for you I can get some pics tomorrow. I think you could mount the canister any where convenient on the fender or firewall with flexable lines to account for engine movement. Quote
