My sister called this morning asking if I wanted some old photos, in them, was this one that I had taken in Jan of '72 in Topeka, Kansas. I had just bought the Duster "Twister" in Nov of '71. One car that I wish I still had.

I traded it for a new '74 Pinto runabout during the first oil crisis, boy talk about going downhill, but the gas mileage was better

My 71 Duster was not a twister but it was the fastest car I ever owned with a 340CI engine. I recall one hot summer night I had slowed down to cross some railroad tracks and downshifted to 2nd gear. I was slowly accelerating after crossing the tracks and elected to hammer it. As soon as the 4bbl kicked in it broke the rear tires loose and I was laying rubber and fishtailing. I put over 50,000 miles on this car that year. I traded it for a 69 Grand Prix. I wish I still had both of these cars.

I had two Dusters. A '70 340 auto and a '74 318 three speed. Neither was new when I got them. My brother had a 71 340 auto and is currently building a 72 demon that will be 360 four speed powered. I still love those cars.

I dont think there was a 70 Duster. They were new for 71.

I bought my wife a new '70 Duster. It had the slant 6. Had bucket seats with a 3 speed factory floor shift. Taught her how to drive a stick shift on the way home from the dealer. In a short time, she was driving my hopped up '64 GTO 4 speed.

I owned this 76 Dart Lite for about 15 minutes in the late eighties.

I bought it from a co-worker's Dad. He had been told it wouldn't pass the State Inspection. It had a rust hole in the front frame. The rest of the car was pretty nice. I went to pick it up with a friend. He stopped me about 10 minutes into the trip home and wanted to know if I would sell him the car.

Of course, I didn't make a dime on the car but he did a lot of work on it, even won a first in class at the Englishtown Mopar show. He still has the car!

The Dart Lite was a light weight version of the Dart Sport. The Duster version was the Feather Duster. Slant six with aluminum intake, aluminum 4 speed OD trans, aluminum hood, deck lid and bumper brackets.
