Rodney Bullock Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 You might want to check your float and make sure you didn't bend the little tab. When I had my float set too low (caused by a taller needle) it caused a surge or miss at higher speeds. I think this was the problem or part of it. Thanks Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 Rodney,My first best guess is that you didn't get all the crud off the needle and out of the seat or out of the gas line leading to them. If that sounds too easy then imagine crud getting in the ports and dainty places and you bent the float adjustment and there's junk that will require actual removal of the carb so you can blow it out with air, but you don't need a new carb. You need a new gas filter. -Randy Joe Flanagan and I discussed at lenth getting a filter in my system. My gas line is all metal there is a little rubber where the tank meets the steel line I think that rubber is not fuel line and ethenol is breaking that rubber down. I will get someone with a lift to swap out the rubber and put a filter there so the tank will not hurt the plymouth again. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Rodney, Glad you got it fixed! Tom Quote
38plymouth Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 I think this was the problem or part of it. Thanks I took me months to figure out what was wrong when it happened to me. I swapped the needle and seat and thought they would be exactly the same, the problem was the new one was longer so it messed up the float setting. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 It rained here today. I wanted to get the Plymouth out this morning. I hope it don't rain tomorrow. Don, Your video was nice but We want you do film it inside of your car. Your car is a real hot rod. I like the sound bit coming out of the garage. The duals sound real nice. Quote
greg g Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Hey Rodney, I think you folks are gonna be in for some nasty weather for the next three or four days, Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 We just got an e-mail from the power company saying they're going to do their best but be prepared for an extended power outage. They said repairs could be a "multi-day event." Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted August 27, 2011 Author Report Posted August 27, 2011 The rain has started. I was going to put the Plymouth back in the garage this morning. I got up way to late. O well a little rain can't hurt it right:eek: Just when you get it right, what can you do. I guess I will pull out all my old cartoons. This week end is going to be a wash. It was nice yesterday and I still have a couple of pic's from then. Quote
