rear end ratio

what is the rear end ratio of a 50 plymouth.? ( the 40's is 4.1-1.)..the 50's..?

I have a 50 marked 3.73.

thanks norm...if i put an overdrive unit on a '50 with 3.73..when in OD will there be enough power to pull me on level or up a hill? (od will give me about 3.2)

I don't know. The 50 unit is not in a car. With my OD I use a 4.10 and on longer grades I need to kick it down out of OD. Guess it would depend on the hill. With OD and 4.10 I can cruise at 70 no sweat.

I agree 3.73 is too much. I'm not sure what my 51 with OD has but dads 2 OD cars both have 3.90s.

I have a 3.55/1 differential in my car. I have no problems climbing all but the steepest hills when I am in overdrive. Rear tires measure 26" (actual measurement). My long block Desoto engine does help.

I think, but have not confirmed, that my '50 has the standard 3.90:1 rear end. The car will pull steep idaho grades in OD no sweat.

But then maybe it's the #1 FULL RACE FLATTY under the hood...
