41/53dodges Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 hi everybody! i have all four original dogdish hubcaps for my truck, but they are mostly missing the back ring that actually holds them on due to rotting away. does anybody have any good ways to repair these? they have a relatively good face, so i would kinda like to save em'. thanks, josh Quote
50farmtruck Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 No help here, but I've been wondering the same thing. The outers are stainless, which is nice but they are crimped around steel that is really rusted. No way to get to the rust in between without separating the two pieces & getting them back together most likely would not be pretty. Bryan Quote
HanksB3B Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 I have none so unless an Egyptian Tomb of a pre WWII Chrysler excecutive is discovered, I probably never will have any. Hank Quote
Young Ed Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Hank do you have a 1/2 or 3/4 ton? If so decent ones are easy to find. If I managed to find a set of 4 for my 1940 plymouth pickup you can find some dodge ones Quote
41/53dodges Posted May 12, 2011 Author Report Posted May 12, 2011 strangely, im having more luck finding plymouth ones than dodge! there were 2-3 at jefferson and none for dodge! Quote
Young Ed Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Ah but were they truck ones? Doubt it. And to answer your original question I haven't ever found a good way to transplant them. The one person I talked to that had this done sent them out to a pro. They used a press to put them back on. Quote
41/53dodges Posted May 13, 2011 Author Report Posted May 13, 2011 not sure about whether they are truck ones, but they look cool enough to buy and hang on the wall Quote

maverick Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 i seperated a few that came off a 48 dodge coupe that were badly dented just to see if they could be straightened. the do come off but with much persuading with a small screwdriver around the outside. when i put them back together, i could not get them as tight as they were, but when mounted to the rim, i dont think they are going anywhere.
