thrashingcows Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Well since my back is a mess right now, I decided to clean and repaint the brake parts for the pass side front. Here are a couple pics.... I have bled the brakes through to the front, since the lines were open. Nice clean fluid moving through now. Bearings cleaned up nicely and they have no pits or major wear that I can see. A good repacking and they will be good to go. Also does anyone have the seal # for the front drums? Quote
55 Fargo Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Looks excellent Brian, if you ever need a set of 11 inch front backing plates, that are powder coated, I have a set. Most likely you would not need what I have, as yours look great......Fred PS those bearings are made with quality material, not like todays metal quality for who knows where... Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Excellent job....what'd you use to clean them up so good? Tom Quote
thrashingcows Posted March 25, 2011 Author Report Posted March 25, 2011 Excellent job....what'd you use to clean them up so good?Tom I have an old bench grinder on a tall stand, with a wire wheel on one side, and my polishing wheel(s) on the other. It's dusty and dirty work, but the wire wheel does a pretty nice job cleaning things up. WHat the wheel can't reach I sand down by hand, or with brushes. Quote
greg g Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Why didn't just soak the hard parts in vinegar???? Lots less work. Quote
