I was going to install the beveled washer that goes behind the crank pulley and was wondering if there are any specs on the way it's installed. I know the concave side faces out. I assume it shouldn't contact the timing chain cover, since it spins. I put it on once and never had any problem with it. Didn't see anything in the manual about it.

Oil slinger I believe. I thought they went behind the crank gear though on engines without the tube to lube the timing chain. Is there another?

I did a little research and found out that the washer is in fact an oil slinger and that it is installed as Jim shows. It also serves as a deflector to keep oil away from the timing chain cover gasket and reduce the chance of leaks.

In case anyone was wondering.
